Call 800-262-0326 to make payments and report power outages 24 hours a day. Please have your account number ready and make sure we have accurate phone and physical address information on your account.
Rebates are available to members in good standing with the cooperative and all types of service (lake homes, shops, barns, etc.). The service must meet a minimum annual usage of more than 6,000 kWh's to qualify. Some rebates may be limited to no more than 50 percent of the total cost.
This question is being asked more and more as members look for ways to reduce energy costs. The answer is maybe, depending on many factors, and how fast you want to see a return on your investment.
We always encourage our members to call us before they sign any contract with a solar company.
For more information visit our Solar Power page.
We have come to expect if we lose electric service it will be restored within a few hours at most. But when a devastating event, like a tornado, ice, or snow storm causes major damage to a co-op's system, long outages cannot be helped. Crews work long, hard hours restoring service, but it's a task that needs to be done methodically to be done safely.

At SWEC we want to put our members first. One way we do that is by offering multiple options on how to pay your bill.
Traditional Billing
Southwest Electric Cooperative’s billing date is the 20th of each month with a due date on the 10th of the following month. The billing statements are mailed on the 21st of each month. When the due date of the 10th falls on a weekend or holiday, the due date will be extended to the following
business day.
Your monthly payment is figured by an average of your previous 12 months. Each June the budget billed amount will be recalculated and any balance accrued will be due (or any credit accrued will be applied). Learn more.
With traditional billing, members receive a utility bill once a month for all of the electricity they have used in the previous thirty days. Prepaid billing works a little differently. This service allows you to choose how much and how often you want to pay before you use the electricity.
Think of Prepaid as the same as paying for gasoline, groceries, or a prepaid phone. You pay for the product before you use it, however, you can pay as little or as much as you want, when you want. Payments can be small amounts every few days or large amounts allowing you not to worry about it for a long period of time. When your supply is low, you simply purchase more. Learn more.

The Availability Charge is a flat fee charged to all services to recover a portion of the costs required to make electricity available to your service 24-hours a day. Examples of these costs include the poles, wires, transformers, equipment, personnel, offices, etc. needed to build and maintain Southwest's system. The Availability Charge does not include electric usage. Electric usage is billed under the Energy Charge which is any kilowatts used during the billing period multiplied by the current per kilowatt-hour rate.
